Brickbat from Brass bands

Posted by Eryl Crump on August 5, 2007 4:14 PM |

I seem to have upset some members of the Brass band fraternity

Completely unintentionally I hasten to add and I apologise for the slip. A member of a leading brass band has pointed out that their insrtuments do not "blare" as I noted in one of my blogentries yesterday but, in the most skilful of hands and lips, make pleasing sounds to the ear.

I concur completely. As a former member of the Oakley brass band in Blaenau Ffestiniog many years ago I cannot think where the slip came from. Blame it on editorial pressure.

Mentioning the Oakley I was delighted to see them win their section at the Eisteddfod on Saturday. A just reward for their efforts last year when they trekked down to Swansea and got second place.
